We don’t actually mean the ‘overall’ size of the frame. We mean the internal size of the frame, or the ‘lip’ on which the glass sits. You can see this by removing the back of your frame, in order to measure the size of the glass.
This is the size the outside of your mount will have to be.
Simply removing the glass from the frame, and measuring the size of the piece of glass itself is the easiest way to find out the outside size (i.e. ‘frame size’) your mount needs to be.
“...But I’m buying a ready made frame from you”
If you’re buying a ready made frame from us (e.g. a Nielsen frame), simply use the size of the frame that we have stated on the website as the frame size - all the sizes of ready made frames on our website refer to the internal or ‘lip’ size. For example if you’re creating a mount for your picture, and looking to put it inside an A4 Nielsen frame, simply select ‘A4’ as the frame size. We will then make the outside of your mount this size.
